Welcome back to our latest post, guys! It’s Aloe! Recently Maria and I stumbled upon a tweet that says that some people don’t have an internal monologue. What is an internal monologue? By definition, an internal monologue is “an inner voice, internal speech, or verbal stream of consciousness, thinking in words”. So pretty much it’s your thoughts that you hear in your own voice (hopefully). What we found out is that some people don’t even have this little inner voice! This blew my mind! I thought all people talk to themselves in their head 24/7!
To our readers who don’t have an inner voice, let me explain what it is like to have one! It has its good and bad of course… It’s pretty much like talking to yourself but only you can hear it. I usually have a conversation with myself on the daily, whether it be reminding myself to do my homework later, having an imaginary argument with someone, or just complaining about annoying customers to myself when I’m working.
There are always bad sides to this inner voice as well. For those who suffer from OCD or anxiety like me, this inner voice can be quite deadly. When I start receiving bad or negative thoughts that seem to pop up out of nowhere, it can be hard to shut off that harsh voice. But with therapy and support, I am able to deal with and cope with those thoughts whenever they tend to arise! An inner voice isn’t always bad though! If you have one, that means you’re just human!

Hey guys, Macaroni here! Yesterday, being so fascinated with this phenomenon, we decided to conduct a survey to see how common it was among our friends and some family members. (Thank you all for participating! ❤ )
Out of the 57 people we asked… 53 said they have one, 4 said they don’t. I am actually part of those that don’t have one! From what I’ve learned from those that said they have one, they can hear a voice that they use to talk to themselves in their head and argue with themselves sometimes and that when people read, they hear the words being read in their head. I was shocked by this info because I don’t hear my voice in my head, EVER. I get songs stuck in my head and have the ability to form thoughts though.

When I think of things it’s like I just think in the words, no one really speaking them. Unless it’s my remembering what someone said earlier. But I’m not sure if auditory memory is involved here. I’ve been practicing thinking more in my head to see if I can get a voice up there haha. Not sure if it’s gonna happen but we’ll see. If this is a new idea to you guys or you wanna read more about internal monologues I suggest this article from another wordpress site: https://ryanandrewlangdon.wordpress.com/2020/01/28/today-i-learned-that-not-everyone-has-an-internal-monologue-and-it-has-ruined-my-day/amp/?_twitter_impression=true
